Description

The "Rizzo" bread shop was founded in 1956 in the Matteotti square of Castelvetrano by the brothers Leonardo and Giovanni Rizzo. Since then it has continued, with family management, to produce artisan bread with all the ancient processing methods, acquired through consolidated experience over the decades. The starting point is represented by flours derived from selected grains of the area, among which the rare and precious tumminia stands out; the natural leavening products guarantees genuineness and tradition, and the cooking generally takes place in special wood-burning ovens fed exclusively with the pruned branches of the olive tree.

Breadsticks

One of the most famous and widespread products of Turin's gastronomy, it has had rapid success both for its greater digestibility compared to ordinary bread, and for the possibility of being stored even for several weeks without any deterioration. We are able to produce a very wide range of breadsticks: simple with or without salt, with sesame on the surface, flavored with wild rosemary, with chilli. We also have wholemeal breadsticks and sweet breadsticks (griscotti).

In Sicily there are several variants connected to the rural culinary tradition: in Catania, the use of Scacciata has been widespread for centuries; sfinciuni, soft focaccia with onion, caciocavallo, tomato and breadcrumbs is widespread in Palermo. The traditional Sicilian pizza produced in our area, on the other hand, is seasoned with tomatoes, onions, sardines, extra-virgin olive oil and parmesan. In addition to Sicilian pizza, we produce 4-flavor pizza, focaccia with olives and potatoes.
