Buccellato
The Sicilian Buccellato is a shortcrust pastry dough, rolled out in a not thin sheet and stuffed with a filling of dried figs, raisins, almonds, orange peels or other ingredients that vary depending on the areas in which it is prepared, then closed and shaped like a donut. The more traditional fig filling is instead made up of a mixture of dried figs, candied fruit and pieces of chocolate. Baked in the oven, buccellato can be preserved for a long time.
